Bay Area Pet Hospital is a 24/7 emergency hospital located in downtown Traverse City, MI. The pre-clinical veterinary summer students work as emergency veterinary assistants. Our summers are busy (the hospital will see 60-80 cases per day, 2-4 abdominal surgeries daily-in addition to laceration repairs and other minor procedures, and hospitalize roughly 10-12 inpatients daily). Summer students will have the opportunity to observe patient evaluations, review diagnostics including aFAST and tFAST ultrasound, participate in treatments and procedures. Students with prior anesthesia experience may have the opportunity to run anesthesia during procedures and ER surgeries. Traverse City, MI is located on beautiful Grand Traverse Bay.
