MVMA Committees and Task Forces Make a Difference

MVMA has dynamic and fun committees and task forces that are making a difference in the veterinary world. To join a committee or task force, contact us!

 

Animal Welfare Committee

The mission of the MVMA Animal Welfare Committee is to engage in such activities which involve or promote animal welfare and/or the human/animal bond. They make animal resources available, promote education resources regarding animal welfare and serve as a resource on these issues.

Ethics and Grievance Committee

The Ethics and Grievance Committee reviews and attempts to mediate ethical issues and client complaints referred to the MVMA.

Equine Practice Committee

The Equine Practice Committee plans 4 CE events and several labs annually with the latest information available in equine medicine. They also provide timely responses to critical issues as they arise in equine practice and communicate with Michigan equine practitioners, veterinary medicine as a whole, the horse industry and the public.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee consists of MVMA’s President, President-Elect, First Vice President, Second Vice President and Immediate Past President. The Committee acts on behalf of MVMA’s Board of Directors between Board meetings and also functions as MVMA’s Finance Committee.

 

 

  

Food Animal Practice Committee

The Food Animal Practice Committee supports food animal practitioners in matters pertaining to regulation, legislation, and continuing education. Their goal is to promote, protect, and ensure the success of food animal veterinary medicine, while concurrently monitoring the health and welfare of the Michigan livestock industry.

Leadership Development Committee

The Leadership Development Committee engages in activities that provide a consistent and diverse leadership ladder for the organization on a state and national level.

Legislative Advisory Committee

The Legislative Advisory Committee assists the MVMA Board of Directors in formulating and implementing MVMA legislative policy and MVMA positions on State regulatory proposals. They integrate the needs and concerns of members into their recommendations which are made in the overall best interest of veterinary medicine.

One Health Committee

One Health is the interrelationship of animal health, human/public health, and environmental health.

Veterinary Team & Workforce Committee

The Veterinary Team and Workforce Committee works on ways to better serve valued members of the veterinary community. This committee also helps to develop programs and educational tools for non-DVM veterinary staff.
